🐾 She’s Getting It
Today was one of those YES kind of days—the ones where the sun hits just right and everything feels like it’s finally falling into place.
Nicky and I went for a long walk through the city, and for the first time in a long time, I felt proud of both of us. She was focused. Responsive. Calm. We explored new areas—different streets, different smells—and she walked beside me like a dog who knows she belongs here.
Every step felt like progress. No dragging, no chaos, no power struggles. Just a girl and her gremlin moving through the world together. For the first time in weeks, I didn’t feel I needed rotator cuff surgery after our walk.
We even stopped at the dog park on the way home as a reward—before our actual park time—because she earned it. She’s working so hard, and it shows.
And when we got back? Homemade cookies. Our assistant manager of the building baked dog treats just for her. Because apparently, even the universe is rooting for Nicky right now.
There’s still work to do. But today reminded me how far we’ve already come.
