🌷 Mother’s Day in Full Bloom: Sushi, Sweet Moments, and a Whole Lot of Heart 🌸

This Mother’s Day wasn’t just a celebration—it was a season finale. Full of little plot twists, heartfelt cameos, and enough love to make even the Flower Moon blush. 🌕💕

It started off with something totally new for us: a revolving sushi dinner. Yep, little dishes dancing around the table like a culinary catwalk, and Mom was living for it. Watching her light up every time a new plate rolled by was pure gold. It was like edible bingo—what’s next? Tuna? Mochi? Tiny octopus that may or may not judge you back?

The real star moment? She got to meet David. (No pressure, right?) But honestly? It went so well. He was kind and present, she was curious and warm, and I just sat there like a proud emotional project manager. 😌✨

Then came Mother’s Day morning—and let me tell you, it was a whole vibe. She walked in and saw the teal tree—decked out with love, blooms, butterflies, and sparkle—and I swear I saw her soul sigh with joy. There was her painting on display, her gift all set up on the table, and even Nicky made an appearance to bring the cuteness full circle (as she does, obviously).

We kept it easy and lovely with brunch, full of sweet food and even sweeter conversation. After that? We busted out the Rummikub, which brought out our inner competitive queens. (I may or may not have lost spectacularly. I regret nothing.)

And because no Mother’s Day is complete without a touch of muddy joy—we finished the celebration at the dog park, letting Nicky run wild and soaking up that last little dose of sunshine and togetherness.

It wasn’t flashy. It wasn’t scripted. But it was real. Full of connection, laughter, warmth, and a little sushi-induced food coma. 💗

This year, Mother’s Day wasn’t just a moment—it was a memory. And it bloomed just the way it needed to.

Dana Overland, Artist & Founder of Dove Recovery Art

I paint emotions. Not places, not things — but all the messy, beautiful, gut-wrenching, glittering feelings we carry. My art was born from survival: after years battling chronic pain, deep grief, and trauma, I found healing in watercolor and mixed media. Every piece I create is a surrender, a whispered prayer, and a story hidden in color and texture.

Through Dove Recovery Art, I turn pain into something soft and luminous — because even pain glitters when you hold it right. My work explores trauma, recovery, and the quiet power of starting over. Proceeds from my art help others on the same path: funding recovery efforts, community support, and creative healing spaces.

I believe art isn’t just something to look at; it’s something to feel, to carry, to heal with. Welcome to my world — where broken things become beautiful.
